In an interview with OLBG, former Manchester United player Giuseppe Rossi suggested that Michael Carrick should move to bring back Scott McTominay.
Following Amorim's dismissal, Carrick took over as Manchester United’s interim manager and will remain in charge until the end of the season. The 44-year-old coach began his second stint at the club with a convincing 2-0 victory over Manchester City last week. Although United are widely expected to appoint a permanent manager this summer, the club’s transfer direction—whether in terms of new signings or player sales—remains highly uncertain.
Former United star Giuseppe Rossi believes Carrick should act immediately to facilitate McTominay’s return from Napoli to Old Trafford. It has been more than a year since the Scottish midfielder moved to Serie A for a fee of £25 million. Speaking to OLBG, the former Italian international stated that Carrick’s interim role actually provides the perfect opportunity to bring McTominay back to his former club.
“Bring McTominay back!” Rossi said bluntly. “You can’t just sign any player now only to replace him again in the summer. Ultimately, everything depends on the head coach. Right now, everything feels up in the air—if you haven’t even decided who the manager will be, how can you possibly plan transfers? I keep mentioning McTominay because I truly believe he would be an excellent addition to United’s squad right now.”
However, whether McTominay himself would be willing to return to Manchester United is another matter entirely. Since joining Napoli, his career has flourished dramatically. In addition to helping the club win the league title last season, he was named Serie A MVP and received his first Ballon d’Or nomination.
In fact, McTominay previously commented on a common phenomenon: many players tend to thrive after leaving Manchester United. He acknowledged that their improved performances are often closely tied to the more significant roles they assume at their new clubs.
“People always say, ‘They play better after leaving United,’ but that’s far too easy an excuse,” McTominay told CBS Sports. “Last season, I had a great campaign—I scored 10 goals and we won a trophy. As for Marcus [Rashford], there are obviously certain things we can’t discuss in depth, but he’s absolutely a top-level player—always has been.”
“He’s one of United’s legendary players, scoring countless goals and achieving so much for the club. But at United, the spotlight is always on you, and that, in my view, makes problems seem worse than they really are. Clearly, when players leave, they get more playing time, their confidence grows, and naturally, their form improves compared to when they were barely playing at United. But at United, you have to fight for your place—that’s exactly what Bruno Fernandes has done so brilliantly.”

Better remain at Napoli, flourish and grow there and eventually move to a bigger and better team than going back to where you were not appreciated in the 1st place

leave him to enjoy his hard earned place in Napoli. Pundits in England are destroying carriers of many players by giving pressure, useless statistics. without scoring goals they take a player as afailed business.

Bad managers has caused Manchester United downfall. The Glazers should allow a takeover

Bad idea! United should upgrade from Terminator and aged Casemiro to something better like Caceido, Rice, Guimaraes. Someone who can move forward when needed and also do dirty jobs nearly. I prefer they beg Casemiro to extend because he is performing like he’s still young. than going back to Macto or panic buying
