Zlatan Ibrahimovic rolled back the years with a two-goal display to give Milan a 2-1 win against 10-man Sassuolo on Tuesday night.

There was also activity involving Milan off the field as it emerged Ralf Rangnick would not be taking over at San Siro next season, with Stefano Pioli instead keeping hold of the reins.

Gianluigi Donnarumma made his 200th Milan appearance tonight against Sassuolo, who benched Jeremie Boga and were without key defenders Gian Marco Ferrari and Vlad Chiriches.

The Rossoneri lost fellow stoppers Andrea Conti and Alessio Romagnoli to knocks in the first half and looked to be in for a long night.

However, they punished Sassuolo for some sloppy play out the back and Ibrahimovic sent a diving header past Andrea Consigli from Hakan Calhanoglu’s pinpoint cross.

Sassuolo were able to equalise when Calhanoglu was adjudged to have handballed by the VAR and Caputo made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Fortunately for Milan, Calhanoglu was able to spot Ibrahimovic’s run and the striker defied his 38 years, rounding Andrea Consigli with aplomb.

That was soon followed by Sassuolo going down to 10 men as Mehdi Bourabia recklessly lunged into Ante Rebic for a second yellow.
