Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos broke the record for most international wins in football history and dedicated his achievement to Jose Antonio Reyes who died recently in a car accident.
The 33-year-old centre-back reached 122 wins with his national team, after Spain's 4-1 victory over Faroe Islands, where he scored La Roja's first goal five minutes into the game.
"It is a tremendous pride to beat that personal record," he said.
"In the end, there are many games and many years being here and it's a joy to own the record for most international wins.
"It encourages you to continue working, to continue with the national team and hopefully we can keep winning.
"After the tragedy of our friend Reyes, there is no better way to beat a record than in his memory and also doing it with a header which means a lot to me and I dedicate it to Reyes' family and to him."
