With just two days to go until El Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, a piece of street art featuring Mbappé and Yamal has drawn plenty of attention on the streets of Barcelona.

On Friday, Italian artist TVBoy unveiled a mural depicting the two Spanish football superstars kissing while wearing their respective clubs' shirts.

The piece, titled “For the Love of the Ballon d’Or,” alludes to the rivalry between the two players both on the pitch and in the race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the awards ceremony set to take place on Monday. A golden football is also depicted at their feet to symbolize their rivalry.

However, the artwork did not meet with universal approval. Installed in the Catalan capital's historic quarter, it was vandalized less than two hours after it was completed.

The two forwards’ faces were particularly badly defaced. The artist later quipped on social media: “The shortest kiss in history.”
