According to L'Équipe, Simeone reiterated that Atletico Madrid will not sell Alvarez, despite Barcelona and Real Madrid both pursuing the forward.
According to L'Équipe, Simeone made it clear at a press conference on Saturday that Atletico Madrid has no intention of selling Alvarez. Barcelona and Real Madrid have both attempted to sign the Argentina striker in recent weeks, raising concerns about his future ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking on Saturday, the day before Atletico Madrid's friendly against Manchester City in Seoul, South Korea, Simeone said: "I think the situation is clear. The club has made a decision, as CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín explained. I am very happy to have a player like Julián. (...) We will help him continue to grow, improve, and play at his best, as he has been doing for us over the past two years."
Atletico Madrid has maintained this stance since the summer transfer window opened. Gil Marín stated on the club's channel that the team has rejected an offer of 100 million euros. "Even offers of 150 million euros or 200 million euros will not be accepted," he added. Alvarez's release clause stands at 500 million euros.
