Spanish politician Juan Carlos Girauta believes El Clasico should not go ahead due to the exposure it will give the Catalan separatists.
The 58-year-old, who is from Barcelona, even went as far as saying that Real Madrid should refuse to play the match.
"It is absolutely certain that the separatists are going to use El Clasico to launch their secessionist message to millions of football fans," Girauta said.
"Tsunami Democratic are not a joke. They are dangerous and will seek to broadcast their propaganda with this match.
"There are many of us exiles, those of us who have had to leave Catalonia," he added.
"With humility, I ask Real Madrid not to play El Clasico, even if it costs them three points."
