According to the latest report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has informed some youth players to be ready if the first team needs them for the preseason.
Reportedly, the 2025 preseason was unusual for Barcelona because, without participating in the Club World Cup or national team competitions, Flick had all his players available, and 10 players were promoted from the academy, though ultimately only a few youth players joined the team for the tour.
This summer will be different from previous years, as Barcelona will have up to 15 players participating in the World Cup, including this summer's first signing, Gordon, and Hamza Abdulkareem, who played for the U19 A team in recent months.
Preseason training will begin on July 13th, six days before the World Cup final, and the performance of Barcelona players in their national teams will determine when they join Flick's training. Therefore, the club has informed some youth team players to be prepared if the first team needs them.
Some players have received confirmation that they must report to the sports city on the first day of preseason, while others are Flick's reserve options, with both Barcelona Atletic and the U19 A team starting training slightly later.
Even so, those players who might be called up to the first team will begin individual training in the coming days to regain fitness, and undergo injury prevention and strength training. A month later, Barcelona Sports City will officially kick off the new season.
