It's no secret that Barcelona plans to strengthen its defense in the winter transfer window or next summer, according to Sport. One of the most important transfer targets for Barcelona's sporting management, led by Deco, is to sign a center-back. In recent weeks, several players have been linked with Barcelona. The latest to emerge is Chelsea center-back Colwill. The 23-year-old English player currently plays for Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, and is one of the targets Barcelona is monitoring.
Colwill's contract with Chelsea runs until June 30, 2029. Due to interest from Barcelona and another Premier League club, the defender has put his contract extension talks with Chelsea on hold.
However, it will not be easy for Barcelona to complete this deal. Reports indicate that Colwill and Wesley Fofana are key players in Xabi Alonso's defense, and Chelsea is unwilling to let them go easily, with their asking price not expected to be less than 80 million euros. For Barcelona, this price is clearly unacceptable, as the club neither has sufficient financial capacity nor the willingness to invest such a huge amount of money in a center-back.
