Sport: Real Madrid pursues Diomande and Rodrygo but lacks registration slots

According to Sport, Real Madrid are pushing for the signings of Jean-Diony Yanga-Mbiwa and Rodri, but registration spots have become a new obstacle.

Negotiations for Yanga-Mbiwa are in the final stages. The main differences between the two sides are focused on the deal structure and the final floating clauses, but all parties remain optimistic. The final total price, including fixed amounts and bonuses, could exceed €120 million.

Rodri's negotiations are still at a more preliminary stage, but Valdebebas is confident of completing the deal. Real Madrid have already contacted Manchester City and believe the deal could be resolved in a matter of hours or days, similar to the recent signing of Marc Cucurella.

Registration spots causing problems again

La Liga rules allow each team to register a maximum of 25 professional players. Real Madrid currently has 24 spots filled, and while Franco Mastantuono has joined the first team for daily training, he is still registered with Castilla. After Gonzalo García's imminent departure, one spot will open up, enough to register one of the two new signings.

However, the problem doesn't end there. Usually, most clubs reserve the 25th spot to deal with contingencies during the transfer window, which Real Madrid did last season. If both Yanga-Mbiwa and Rodri ultimately join, the club would need to offload one more player to maintain this operational flexibility.

The situation has become more complicated with the injury to Raúl Asencio. The club confirmed his injury this Thursday. Previously, José Mourinho had told him he was not in his plans, and his departure was almost finalized, but this unexpected event could hinder the transfer and also affect defensive planning, as Real Madrid is still considering bringing in another center-back before the transfer window closes.

Mastantuono and Camavinga, two names on the table

In this scenario, Real Madrid is exploring various player departure options. One name is Franco Mastantuono, but if he is loaned out, this would not solve the registration issue for Yanga-Mbiwa and Rodri Hernández, as he currently occupies a reserve team spot.

This move is more for planning considerations. The club does not want a player who has fully integrated into the first team's training and match rhythm to continue playing for Castilla for another season. Furthermore, after a season with limited playing opportunities, Valdebebas believes that the best option for his development is to go out on loan to gain playing time.

Several clubs have expressed interest in him. River Plate would be happy to have him back, and this is also a destination the player himself is interested in, but Real Madrid prefers to loan him to a European team to help him continue adapting to European football before returning to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The player who could truly free up a first-team spot is Eduardo Camavinga, who is also one of the players who has attracted interest from several top clubs during this transfer window. However, the French international has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer, so this possibility can almost be ruled out for now.

Therefore, if Real Madrid wants to complete the signings of both Yanga-Mbiwa and Rodri while also retaining the last first-team spot for contingencies, they must find another player to leave in the coming weeks.
