RC Strasbourg’s hierarchy have confirmed they have met with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly but have played down any takeover talk, according to a report from BFM Alsace. L’Equipe reported yesterday that American businessman Boehly and his financial partners recently spoke with Strasbourg president Marc Keller, and are “very interested” in acquiring a 100% stake in the club. The outlet added that Boehly and his partners are interested in taking on the financially stable club and growing it, notably by loaning players out to the Ligue 1 outfit.

Speaking to BFM Alsace, an unnamed RC Strasbourg executive has confirmed a “friendly meal” took place between the involved parties but spoke of a “non-event“. “There has been no follow-up since. Marc Keller is taking his time in order to find new investors.” The Strasbourg executive although has confirmed there is interest from the new Chelsea owners in the Alsatians, but any talk of a takeover are said to be premature at this stage. The RCSA hierarchy claims there is no financial emergency at the club right now.

15th-placed Ligue 1 side Strasbourg will travel away at Clermont this Sunday at 3pm local time for Ligue 1 gameweek 25.
