Stunning new footage emerges of Barcelona's £1.25bn Nou Camp renovation project

Incredible footage of the day-and-night work being put into the £1.25billion renovation of the Nou Camp has shown the project appears to be far from completion.

The Catalan giants started work on their world-famous stadium to increase its capacity to 105,000, after winning LaLiga back in June 2023.

The Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys has been Barclona's home ever-since, with the original date for the club's return to the Nou Camp set for 125th anniversary on November 29, 2024.

However, the club has continually pushed back their homecoming due to slow progression on construction, and the date of the re-opening of the stadium remains unknown.

Previous reports suggested that the move could be pushed back to October - denting hopes of a return for the El Clasico on May 11 - and an impressive timelapse of late construction work has only fuelled fears that the 67-year-old stadium is a great distance from being finished.

In addition, Barcelona have signed an agreement to stay at the 54,367 capacity Olympic Stadium until two days after their final LaLiga game of the season against Villarreal, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The deal, while seemingly being kept under wraps by the club, further indicates that the costly renovation of the Nou Camp is no closer to its conclusion.

It also provides an element of relief after there were concerns over where Barcelona would play their final two matches of the campaign due to the Rolling Stones being scheduled to play concert at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on the day of El Clasico.

Fortunatley for the blaugrana, the concert has since been cancelled and seemingly the clubhave extended their stay at their temporary home.

When refurbishments of the Spotify Nou Camp eventually come to an end, it will become the single largest sports venue in the entirety of Europe.

Two incredible time-lapses of both the inside and the outside of the ground in its current state have displayed just how much work is going into getting the project finished.

Builders can be seen working through the night with seats finally being put into placeacross the stands.

Nevertheless, while the inside of the ground is starting to take shape, the outside remains just a partially-finished skeleton with cranes constantly at work to add new pieces to the stadium.

Reports suggest that the turf is scheduled to be laid in April as refurbishments continue, but the installation of the roof - set to be the largest in Europe - seems far away in the distant future.

The continued delay provides a further hit to the purse of the Catalan giants, who have been in dire financial straits for a number of years. The costly renovation of the Nou Camp will allow the club to rake in millions.

Revenues at the Olympic Stadium are considerably lower than what they will enjoy when refurbishments are finished.

Once completed the stadium will reportedly use green energy sources through 18,000m2 of solar panels, producing its own energy and generating zero CO2 emissions.

Despite the stadium distractions, Hansi Flick's have coped well during their enforced exile and currently top of the LaLiga standings and are through to the Champions League quarter-final.
