Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold has called his side 'a team of winners' who aim to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The Reds opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, as Luis Diaz's excellent opening goal was cancelled out by a strike from Axel Disasi on his Blues debut.
Jurgen Klopp's men were by far the better side in the opening half hour, but fell away as the hosts settled into the game amid promising performances from a number of new signings.
Despite the draw and a disappointing fifth place finish last season, Alexander-Arnold insisted Liverpool have big ambitions.
'We've got a team full of winners, so to not be tipped among the contenders for the title is fine by us. We've brought in a World Cup winner.' he told Sky Sports after the game.
Argentina's Alexis Mac Allister made his competitive debut for Liverpool on Saturday after arriving from Brighton for £55 million.
He produced a sublime pass into Mohamed Salah to set up Diaz's goal and was a key cog for the Reds all game.
Alexander-Arnold continued: 'We've got a winning mentality so are aim and ambition this season is to try to win the league. We're not going to be shy about that and nor should we be.'
On the game itself, he added: 'Chelsea are always going to make it difficult. They've made a lot of changes and so have we to fit a new system and they've tried to make a point after last season.
'You probably take a point at Stamford Bridge if you get offered it at the start of the season. We build from this now. We prepared for them to go 4-3-3 and they set up with a back three and made it hard for us to play, pressed high.
'I thought we played well for the first 25 minutes but we couldn't keep it up for some reason. There then comes a time away from home where you switched it up and you take a point.'
Liverpool will next be in action against Bournemouth on Saturday, while Chelsea will face West Ham the next day.
