TAD drops investigation into tebas, finds no evidence of Barcelona information leak

According to Sport, the Spanish Sports Administrative Court (TAD) has closed the case and will no longer pursue the investigation into La Liga President Javier Tebas for allegedly leaking confidential information about Barcelona.

The report states that the Spanish Sports Administrative Court (TAD) decided to drop the disciplinary investigation against La Liga President Tebas, which involved accusations of him allegedly leaking confidential information about the Barcelona club. The court found that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the relevant actions could be attributed to Tebas, and therefore no penalties would be imposed on him.

According to Iusport, this ruling concludes one of the most significant institutional disputes between La Liga and Barcelona in recent months.

The case initially stemmed from a complaint forwarded to the TAD by the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD). The complaint was filed by Miguel Galán, president of the National Training Center for Football Coaches (Cenafe), who believed that Tebas had violated confidentiality obligations by publicly disclosing financial information that Barcelona had submitted to La Liga.

The core of the dispute originated from an announcement released by La Liga on April 2, 2025. At that time, La Liga published some information regarding Barcelona's financial status and the operational project for the Spotify Camp Nou VIP boxes. Barcelona subsequently stated that the club had never authorized La Liga to disclose this data.

However, after investigation, the TAD concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the disclosure of this information was carried out by Tebas himself, and therefore decided to terminate the proceedings and would not impose any sanctions on the La Liga president.

In fact, this case had previously experienced a procedural setback.

The initial disciplinary investigation became invalid because it exceeded the legal processing period of three months, and the TAD subsequently decided to archive the case. However, believing that the relevant actions might not have exceeded the statute of limitations, the TAD restarted a new investigation process in March 2026.

After several months of investigation, the second procedure also ultimately ended with archiving, and Tebas received no penalty.

With the publication of this ruling, the possibility of the La Liga president being suspended or removed from office has also been completely ruled out. Previously, if the relevant violations were deemed "very serious," sports regulations allowed for penalties including disqualification.
