Taboo of selling Gavi or Pedri: 2 assets for Barca could easily earn €100m each

The taboo of selling Gavi or Pedri, the two players with the most offers from Barça

President Joan Laporta explained in the Assembly that, despite Barça's financial situation, it was decided not to sell Frenkie de Jong for around 100 million euros. It is true, but it also had a lot to do with the position of the player, who flatly refused to leave for Manchester United and avoided entering into negotiations that left him out of the Blaugrana.

Barça's policy has always been clear and is to keep the players considered essential to form the starting eleven, something that does not happen at Real Madrid. Florentino Perez doesn't have his legs shaking about selling footballers, no matter how many stars they are. He did it with Cristiano Ronaldo or Casemiro and has dispensed with Benzema so as not to pay him a very high salary. Choose well the assets to sell in order to make a significant economic profit and sign young people.

At Barça, the two most sought-after players in the market are Pedri and Gavi. And they are by far: Bayern, Chelsea, PSG, United... Important clubs have them as potential future prospects in case the Blaugraba club were forced, one day, to get rid of them out of necessity. Easily, the two players would easily pass the 100 million euros with ease.

But Barça are not giving in, it is true that internally this issue has been debated, but the clear conclusion is that these two names are taboo. They don't touch each other and the idea is to prevent them from leaving in the short and medium term. And that is why the two could revise their contract upwards when they recently renewed losing money with higher proposals outside Barcelona. The red line drawn by this Board did cross with Ansu Fati, a player who is no longer considered strategic for the club and who will try to sell himself definitively next summer as long as he performs optimally in the Premier League, something that for now is not happening although there is a long way to go.

Pedri and Gavi are, apart from being very important players in the team, two absolutely key assets for the economic future of the club. Two wild cards that could be used when necessary, although for now it looks like they will wear the Barça shirt for many more years. And they are also two references of where the Blaugrana club should go: one was signed at a practically ridiculous cost and the other came out of La Masia well formed. Barça are forced more than ever to make risky bets in the market and to draw on the academy to then make a profit or sell. And the news is good because young people are coming in strong and will surely end up generating vital income.
