The Estadio Benito Villamarin continues to enjoy 'its' Copa del Rey

This season's Copa del Rey final will be played at the Estadio Benito Villamarin and Real Betis took one more step towards appearing in what would be a home final as they dispatched Espanyol with a dominant extra-time showing to win 3-1 on the night.

With the scores tied at 1-1 after the first leg in Barcelona, the 90 minutes passed with the two sides locked at 2-2 on aggregate, after failing to separate themselves again.

Leo Baptistao had put the visitors ahead on 33 minutes, playing in potentially his final game for the club, but that was about as much joy as the Catalans were to have on the night as things went frustratingly wrong from there.

Giovani Lo Celso's 66th minute strike had the game going beyond the 90 minute mark, but Marc Roca's late sending off changed the complexion of the game for extra-time and Betis stepped things up against Rubi's ten men.

Sergio Leon didn't take long to put the hosts ahead, netting on 95 minutes, before Aissa Mandi put the game beyond doubt just three minutes later.
