It would have been hard for it to be any other way, but Sergio Ramos' Real Madrid farewell had emotions running high.
It started with the player's parents, whom he mentioned in his speech before anyone else, and that's when emotions first came to the surface, remembering his arrival at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Pilar Rubio, Ramos' wife, sat in the front row with their four children. His brother and sister were also present.
"I came here with the help of my parents and siblings when I was just 19," Ramos said. "I was just a child and now I have an amazing family with my wife and four children.
"Fortunately I can say that I arrived close to my family and I'm leaving with that same great family having always supported me."
Ramos' family were visibly moved, but Rubio remained composed throughout.
At the end, the family joined Ramos on stage for photos, first with Florentino Perez and then without the president, instead posing with all of the trophies Ramos won at the club.
