BARCELONA fans have turned on Anthony Gordon after the winger struggled in their 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. Supporters have even called for Marcus Rashford to return from Manchester United.
Gordon, who joined Barcelona from Newcastle this summer for £70 million, was outplayed by Hakimi and failed to make an impact in the thrilling Champions League encounter. This has led some fans to question whether Barcelona should have retained Rashford.
With El Clásico against Real Madrid approaching on Sunday, Barcelona fans have made their sentiments clear on social media.
One fan posted a 1-minute, 25-second highlight reel of Rashford from last season, captioned: "I miss when we had a reliable left winger. Now I have to settle for this English Garnacho."
Another fan wrote: "Honestly, Rashford is still a better fit for Barcelona than Gordon. Gordon can't even do the basics right."
Other fans were not impressed with the new signing, stating: "We were told that Gordon was a pressing machine, a tireless runner, and had more intensity than Rashford. But so far, he doesn't look much different.
"At least Rashford could still pose a real threat with set pieces, crosses from the left, and counter-attacking speed."
So far this season, Gordon has made 11 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists.
His impressive early-season form had earned him recognition from Barcelona fans, who were quick to praise his initial impact.
However, some fans believe that Rashford contributed more during his loan spell from Man United last season, where he recorded 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions.
One comment, responding to a 2-minute highlight reel of Gordon's poor performance against PSG, read: "Did Rashford ever play this badly at Barcelona? He might miss chances, but he shoots and takes on defenders. Gordon wastes chances. Doesn't shoot. Can't even outrun a 35-year-old. Just pressing and atmosphere."

I strongly Bliv that these guys ain't true Barca fans. Just one game and you are writing him off. I even heard some hurled curses at Hansi Flick. It is barbaric to say the least. I stand to be corrected that this is their first loss of the season and they are talking rubbish. Do they think they will win the entire matches of the season? If you guys sound like this, what will Man U fans who are going through severe hard times be doing???? Learn to accept defeat and appreciate your entire team without victimization because it is part of football.
