The mega-project Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez is planning

After a very disappointing season, which was made up for by the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup, Real Madrid are facing a summer of major changes. The departure of Karim Benzema and the signing of Jude Bellingham have kicked off a busy few weeks in the Real Madrid offices. Florentino Pérez has already 'tied down' his first Galactico and, after several years of relative restraint - without the incorporation of world-class stars, but with important investments in younger players like Aurélien Tchouameni or Eduardo Camavinga - it seems that the president is ready to make an important economic effort this summer.

The departure of Benzema has upset Madrid's plans. The club had planned to wait until the summer of 2024 to break the bank and try to sign Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland (or even both, according to the most optimistic over Madrid's financial capacity). Without their main attacking reference point, Carlo Ancelotti's team needs to bring in a guaranteed '9' in the short term. At the Santiago Bernabéu, as the cliché goes, there are no transition years. Madrid's sporting management, ambitious, must make a move. The flood of names, with Harry Kane at the head, has already begun in the Spanish media.

Joselu's name has also been put on the table recently. The newspaper 'MARCA' explained a few days ago that Madrid are on the verge of signing the Espanyol striker on loan. In any case, his profile is envisaged for the role of reserve centre-forward, so he is perfectly compatible with a star signing. And also with that of a proven winger, necessary after the departures of Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard, despite the unofficial return of Brahim Díaz.

Reinforcements in all areas

Everything seems to indicate that, apart from in goal, very well covered by Thibaut Courtois, Madrid will reinforce across all their lines with strategic signings. In the midfield, Florentino already has his new star. Borussia Dortmund announced this week that Jude Bellingham will sign with the club for six seasons after reaching an agreement for an amount of 103 million plus bonuses which could reach 30% of that fixed amount. The deal, therefore, could be worth more than 130m, although if all the variables are fulfilled it would mean that the English midfielder has exceeded expectations and offered a more than remarkable level of performance.

In defence, the Madrid technical team are very clear that the main area to improve is left-back. Fran García will arrive from Rayo Vallecano, but the club has already started working to convince Alphonso Davies. According to 'Relevo', the idea is for him to arrive in the summer of 2024, a year before his contract with Bayern Munich expires.
