The moment Gabriel Jesus told his mother about his contract renewal

Manchester City and Gabriel Jesus have agreed a contract extension, with the Brazilian committing to the club until 2023.

Already he has 24 goals in 53 appearances for the English champions and his mother believes he'll have an even bigger role to play in the near future.

The club shared the emotional moment in which the player called his mother to tell her the news.

"I'm just here at City and I've just signed the contract, I've renewed it," he told her via a video call.

His mother replied with some words of advice and encouragement.

"That's good, very good, God bless," she said to her son.

"This season is going to be amazing because you are the man.

"Kisses to everybody!

"Congratulations and God bless you and your colleagues for the new season.

"And send a kiss to Pep Guardiola, I haven't met him yet!"

The striker and his teammates are currently preparing for the new season, which for them begins with the Community Shield match against Chelsea on Sunday.
