The second-lowest crowd of the season for Real Madrid against Villarreal

There were only 46,294 supporters at Real Madrid's match against Villarreal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon.

It was the second-lowest attendance for a game at the stadium this season.

The only turnout lower than this one came during Real Madrid's Copa del Rey tie with Leganes (44,231) in January.

It would seem that interest in Los Blancos has fallen after a dismal campaign, but their third-lowest crowd of this season came in their first LaLiga Santander home game against Getafe back in August.

The visits of Barcelona have drawn the biggest crowds this season at the Bernabeu, with 80,742 attending the Copa del Rey semi-final and 78,921 coming to the league meeting three days afterwards.

Other than that, the highest attendance for a league game came for Zinedine Zidane's return to the dugout against Celta Vigo in March.
