Last weekend produced the unlikely event of both Barcelona and Real Madrid losing on the same matchday, not to mention doing so immediately before a Clasico.
In fact, of all the Clasicos in the 90 years of LaLiga history, this has happened just even times.
On those occasions, Real Madrid and Barcelona ended up winning three of those meetings each, leaving one draw between the sides. Coincidentally, the away team has failed to win on any of those seven occasions.
The last time both Barcelona and Real Madrid lost their final league game before a Clasico was in the 2002/03 season, when the former went down 4-2 against Deportivo and the latter lost to Real Sociedad by the same scoreline. The following matchday, goals from Ronaldo Nazario and Luis Enrique saw the two teams play out a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The other seasons in which this has happened are 1990/91, 1987/88, 1976/77, 1950/51, 1941/42 and 1935/36.
Simultaneous defeats
The last time both Barcelona and Real Madrid lost on the same matchday - whether before a Clasico or not - was in the 2018/19 season, when the former were beaten by Leganes and the latter by Sevilla. For the time before that, you have to go back to the 2014/15 season.
In Spanish top flight history, Barcelona and Real Madrid have both lost on the same matchday on 131 occasions, with just 15 of those coming since the start of the 2000/01 season.
Although this cannot happen on Saturday, Barcelona and Real Madrid have both lost two games in consecutive matchdays only twice before - during the 2008/09 and 1997/98 campaigns.

madrid are having the same problem that barça had previous season. most of the players especially the midfield are old and can't track back. rodrygo and vinicius are great providers but there's no one in the box to score. the bench is not good enough. important players are injured. but still i think today's match is gonna be lit. força barça🔵🔴

form does matter in these matches. it sets up the mentality of players. madrid are not looking good rn tbh if madrid can score first then it can help them boost their morals. otherwise we have seen this season even with one man down barca do play well and can score goals. my prediction for today will a win for barça or a draw. i would love to see how zizou will make real to stop messi coutinho ansu trincao pedri dembele and griezmann. visca el barça!

tbh the form does impact the team, we lost agains 2 smaller teams in the last 2 matches, and lets not forget the injurys of our rightbacks and Hazard, whilest Barca has a very good team on paper and much better players than Madrid this time
