Thiago Silva has publicly backed Neymar’s presence at World Cup 2026, insisting that the Brazilian star still has a major role to play for the Seleção.

Despite recurring injuries that have slowed him down in recent years, Neymar continues his career with Santos and remains determined to take part in the tournament in North America. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti also wants to rely on the best available players, leaving the door open for the 34-year-old forward.

Speaking on TNT Sports, the veteran defender made his position very clear. “If Neymar is fit, he has to play in the World Cup. Given his current level of play, he has to go. It’s indisputable,” he said.

Thiago Silva also highlighted Neymar’s influence on the pitch, adding that “for the opposing team, that’s already a real headache.” With Rodrygo currently dealing with an injury, Neymar could even see his chances increase as Brazil prepares its squad for the global tournament.
