Times are hard for Marcelo and the Brazilian is experiencing his most difficult period since joining Real Madrid and not even as a 19-year-old did he face such a troubled time confined to the sidelines.
The full back showed on Wednesday at the Camp Nou that he is not up to shape, which has happened before, and he has often shown to be a completely different footballer depending on his physical state.
What is most worrying about his current run though is that there appear to be issues of concentration and with the mental side of his game. On Wednesday, whether he was running or not, it looked as though he was wandering around the countryside.
Not even Marcelo himself can deny his recent slump but it cannot be forgotten what he has given Real Madrid until this point. Very few can argue against his importance to the club both on the pitch and away from it.
The facts are there. Madrid have won a lot of points thanks to the Brazilian.
Despite being Brazilian and not a local, Marcelo has Madrid in his DNA and that can't be questioned. He loves the club. He feels the club and he carries it inside him.
This is why it is important for Madrid to get Marcelo back to his best. It is possible, but both parties must do their bit. He needs to recognise the reality and get to work, while the club and fans need to support him.
It is not about criticising him and asking for his sale, but instead supporters need to be with him because he still has a lot to give. It should not be forgotten that Marcelo is, remembering the famous Martin Scorsese film, "uno de los nuestros" [One of our own - Goodfellas].

I think he is too attack minded to be a left back, He is slow so he shouldn't push up all the time, The only reason I'd rather Alba is because of his pace and he defense better, probably attack better too
