Loris Karius has spoken out, and has been defended by former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas after another goalkeeping error.
Loris Karius has taken to social media to hit back at his critics after another error in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup.
Liverpool goalkeeper Karius fumbled Christian Pulisic's shot as Jacob Bruun Larsen scored Dortmund's third goal in stoppage time after an earlier unpunished lapse when he sliced a clearance straight to Maximillian Philipp on Sunday.
Karius has been a subject of ridicule from many fans after two glaring errors against Real Madrid in Liverpool's 3-1 Champions League final defeat.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed the former Mainz stopper to learn from his mistakes, though the Reds have since signed Alisson in a world-record deal for a keeper.
Karius used Instagram to respond to his detractors amid the ongoing scrutiny.
"To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you," the 25-year-old said in a messaged posed on Sunday.
"Whatever it is that is happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you."
Klopp is not the only one who is tired of Karius' critics, as former Madrid and Spain captain Iker Casillas also came to the defence of his fellow stopper.
"This attack on Loris Karius, will it ever end? I’m talking about him like so many other goalkeepers," the 2010 World Cup winner said via Twitter.
"There are many more serious problems in the world… f***!
"Leave the kid alone. He is also a person. As we all are!"

Please stop criticizing Karius. I'm a goalkeeper for my school team and it is the hardest job in football because people have an obsession with you like they genuinely want to kill you. I remember one game that the team played in May a few months ago and the opposition had a shot and I cleared it with my leg and it fell straight infront another opposition player and somehow, I don't know how, but somehow I managed to clear it off the line again. Mistakes can hurt confidence especially if you concede a goal from a shot you should be saving. When you make a mistake as a goalkeeper or as a defender it does weird things to your brain and makes you do stuff you wouldn't normally do in a game of football. give the lad a chance and stop bullying him for christ sake. We're trying to prevent this world of bullying that we live in and people still bully footballers when really they don't know what they're talking about. as I said before, I am a goalkeeper and I know how much mistakes hurt confidence and I know what sort of feelings Karius is going through

Karius has to realise that to be a goalkeeper, you can't be a crybaby. They say to be a goalkeeper, you have to be crazy, and it's true, because goalkeepers face such criticism all the time. Its the hardest job on the pitch, and the loneliest job on the pitch. Even if people stop criticising him, as long as he keeps making those horrible mistakes, he will never be seen as a good goalkeeper. I've watched him in pre-season so far, and he has continued making blunders. The only way for Karius to silence his critics is if he puts his head down and works hard to become better. Not to whine about it. Come on.

The goalkeeper is the most risky and hard position in the football field. You can hardly get any credit for the team's success being a goalkeeper. You do one great save, it will be talked about for one week and will be forgotten. But if you do one mistake everybody will pick on you for a year or even more. A striker misses a goal people say it just happens and will forget it in no time. A goalkeeper misses a save he will get death threats. He will be criticized for months and months. So, being a goalkeeper you must always keep composure. And I think its time for us to stop ridiculing Karius.

Hey man, I myself play goalkeeper and this goalkeeper is great in goal all goalkeepers make mistakes including De Gea, Cortouis, And all the other keepers you can think of and if you are going to be a keeper then you have to face the fact that you will let your team down at times but then remember your team mates know that all keeper make mistakes that is what I fell that is wrong of you for calling out Klarius for being sad.
criticism is meant to make you stronger. you're supposed to feed off the negativity and become a monster in your work ethic and determination. not "feel sad". why isn't de gea in the news complaining about the criticism he received for his terrible world cup run? cause he has the world class mentality to know that the only way to shut up critics is not through words, but actions on the pitch. and he will be back.
