Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa claims he knew the infamous burofax document Lionel Messi sent the club didn't have any basis.
In the document, the 33-year-old informed Barcelona that he wanted a transfer, but Freixa - a qualified lawyer and a former director at the Camp Nou - claims to have seen its content and doubted its substance.
"I was able to view the document and I saw that it didn't have sufficient basis," he told the 'Tot Costa' show on Radio Catalunya.
"The client is always right in these cases, and I expect that Messi's advisers told him they would support him whether he sent it, or whether he didn't.
"Messi can demand a transfer out of the club.
"But a judge could rule that his new club must pay his 700 million euro release clause, or a similarly high penalty fee.
"And surely no club will run that risk."

Only legal practitioners speak to legal matters, and that's exactly what Mr. Freixa is doing. We all are cognizant of Messi been the greatest player of all time. But Mr. Freixa is speaking from a legal stand point and not base on sentiment. Yes we can defend Messi base on the love we have with him which is our right, but that doesn't in any way justified the reality. Remember, when the action of an individual conflicts with the law, the law will always prevail without fair or favor.
