Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque has not enjoyed the most conspicuous of starts to life in Catalonia, arriving in January for a fee of €30m plus €31m in variables this summer. However agent Andre Cury has set the cat amongst the pigeons by declaring that his client would either play next season, or leave on a permanent deal, rather than the loan that has been suggested.

Roque has featured for just 310 minutes in the past four months, scoring twice in that time, getting sent off, and remaining benched while 18-year-old academy talent Marc Guiu started ahead of him as a number nine in March. Xavi Hernandez clearly feels Roque is not quite ready yet.

During Cury’s statements, he revealed to RAC1 that other sides had offered twice as much money as Barcelona had to Roque, and out of passion he had decided to take the Blaugrana offer. Matteo Moretto has responded to that statement by highlighting that it was in fact Tottenham Hotspur that offered him that money.

Manchester United have been linked with a loan move for Roque, amongst a host of La Liga clubs, while Spurs could perhaps come into the frame for the 19-year-old Brazil international as well. Tottenham have recent history battling Barcelona for young talent, beating them to the signing of Swedish teenager Lucas Bergvall, who will join Spurs from Djurgardens this summer in a fee believed to be in excess of €10m.
