Transfermarkt lists the most valuable international squads for March fixtures

As the March international break cuts across club football’s calendar, focus turns towards the World Cup. It will be the last break before this summer's showpiece. 

Each call-up now becomes more than a selection; it’s a statement of trust in a player that has genuine hopes of living the dream of being part of a World Cup squad. Experiments will take place, and for some, it could be the last chance to impress. Using Transfermarkt’s latest valuations, the most valuable international squads this March are revealed. Some may come as a surprise.

The most valuable nations

Leading the way, in part down to their huge 35 man squad, is England. The Three Lions boast a squad value of €1.62 billion, despite many star players pulling out through injury. In second place with a current squad valuation of €1.41b is France - which is even more impressive when we consider their squad is only comprised of 26 players. Third place goes to European champions Spain, who boast a €1.31b squad value from their 27 man squad. In fourth position is Portugal with a squad value of €865 million from their 26 man roster.

Fifth place goes to Italy - the first team on the list who have not guaranteed their place at this summer's World Cup - who have a squad value of €858m. The first non-European team take seventh in Brazil - the Seleção have a squad value of €854m. Germany take seventh with a €817m squad value, and are followed by current world champions Argentina in eighth with a squad value of €782m. The Netherlands (€712m) and Belgium (€549m) complete the top 10.
