Trent Alexander-Arnold could potentially be reunited with former side Liverpool next week and has now shut down one theory about his move to much-criticised move to Real Madrid
Trent Alexander-Arnold has shot down a theory from Liverpool fans that he was learning Spanish in anticipation of a move to Real Madrid. The England defender completed a move to the Spanish giants in the summer at the end of his contract at Anfield.
Upon his unveiling, Alexander-Arnold spoke near perfect Spanish, with some Reds fans suggesting that he was learning the language some time before his move was finalised. But he appears to have finally put that theory to bed by claiming that he only commenced lessons back in May, with his move being finalised towards the end of that month.
In footage shared on social media, he said: “Hi, I'm Trent. I started learning Spanish with Sara five months ago.
“I didn't speak any Spanish before. I wanted to learn Spanish to communicate better with my team-mates, my coach and the Madrid fans - and adapt better to the culture.
“I really like the lessons because they were very football-based. The terminology we were learning about was press conferences, interviews and vocabulary that I would need to talk to my team-mates on a day-to-day basis within the club. This helped me very, very much and I really enjoyed every lesson.”
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold’s tutor has also given an insight into his lessons. Taking to social media, football language coach Sara said: “Five months. That’s all it took, but it wasn’t easy.
“Trent didn’t just learn Spanish. He chose to start from zero, to sound imperfect, to keep showing up, day by day.
“When he stood on that stage in Madrid and spoke with calm, clarity, and heart, it wasn’t about fluency. It was about respect, courage, and a genuine desire to belong.

“As his language coach, that moment meant everything. Because what I saw wasn’t just a player speaking another language, it was a person growing beyond himself.
“In football, words can build trust, connection, identity. And this is what true professionalism really looks like.”
Alexander-Arnold, 27, has had a slow start to life with Real Madrid having made just five appearances in all competitions so far due to injury. He returned to contention with a place on the bench last weekend against Barcelona.
He could however be handed a place in the starting line-up this weekend after Dani Carvajal picked up an injury. Liverpool welcome Real to Anfield on November 4 in the Champions League.

you are a mad man with that statement,if the guy is your brother, will you pray such prayer for him
you are an idiot if that sounded like a prayer in your eardrums. Of course, Carvajal is injured right now and that will certainly afford others the opportunity to play. mumu

Many of the Liverpool fans still love the kid. We want him to succeed and show that we also churn out gems. We may only wish him poor form on the day we play Madrid ourselves.
