Trent Arnold warned he's walking into a 'mess' at Real Madrid - 'You get killed'

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been warned against joining Real Madrid this summer because the environment is so ruthless and world's away from the welcoming dressing room at Liverpool

Baffled Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has warned Trent Alexander-Arnold against signing for Real Madrid this summer, branding the La Liga giants “a mess” that will be far more uncomfortable than life at Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to pen a free agent deal with Real this summer when his contract at Anfield expires. The move would see him join close friend Jude Bellingham in Real’s ranks.

But with Liverpool set to seal a second Premier League title, while in-fighting appears rife at Real after they crashed out of the Champions League to Arsenal while trailing Barcelona in the league, Petit believes Alexander-Arnold could soon find himself regretting his decision.

" Trent Alexander-Arnold is an icon, a legend at Liverpool and his celebration against Leicester was brilliant, it made me think he could stay at the club especially after seeing Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new deals," Petit told Sambaslots .

"My advice to Alexander-Arnold would be that he is about to win the Premier League again with Liverpool, he will always compete for the Champions League with Liverpool, why would you want to go and join Real Madrid in their current state?

“It’s a mess at Real Madrid and if you have one or two bad games, you get killed by the fans. You will have no support. It’s the opposite of that at Liverpool.

“At the moment they are booing Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, Alexander-Arnold will have to play well in every single game. I wish him luck if he does go over there but at the moment I can’t understand it."

Alexander-Arnold received a mixed reception when coming off the bench away to Leicester on Sunday before scoring the winning goal.

And Reds boss Arne Slot said afterwards that it was "ridiculous" for anyone to question his commitment to the cause amid the doubts around his future.

“The headline should be today the goal he scored and not about his contract," Slot said. "But what I can say is it would be ridiculous if someone argues his commitment for this club.

"The work rate he has put in today to be back and score such an important goal, and all the work he has done for this club in all the years he is here, no one should, in my opinion, argue with his commitment for this club. Let the headlines be his great goal and not his contract situation.”
