According to TyC, Atlético Madrid is monitoring River Plate goalkeeper Beltran. If Oblak departs, the young goalkeeper could become a transfer option for Simeone's team. Currently, there has been no contact between the parties.
Internally, River Plate is increasingly convinced that Beltran's departure is only a matter of time. The club is urgently pushing for a contract extension with him, and his name has begun to appear frequently in European transfer rumors. In recent hours, reports have explicitly mentioned that Atlético Madrid might make a bid for him in the next transfer window.
Beltran is currently with the Argentina national team, preparing for three upcoming friendly matches against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. The 21-year-old goalkeeper, who will turn 22 on October 4, has established himself as River Plate's starter and has attracted international attention. River Plate hopes to extend his current contract, which expires in December 2027, to secure a transfer fee in the event of a future sale and avoid the risk of him leaving as a free agent.
Given Oblak's potential departure, Atlético Madrid has listed Beltran as one of their priority transfer targets. Over the past few months, it has been speculated that the Slovenian goalkeeper might be nearing the end of his Atlético Madrid career after 12 years under Simeone, which has brought Beltran into the team's sights. Currently, there has been no contact between the parties, and this remains only a possibility. However, River Plate believes that receiving a formal offer is only a matter of time. The club has revealed that negotiations for Beltran's transfer in the next window will start at €15 million.
River Plate has already begun preparing for the departure of another academy prospect. However, if Beltran leaves, the team will urgently need to find a replacement goalkeeper. Although Centurión has renewed his contract, reinforcements will be necessary. Moroccan goalkeeper Bono and former Boca Juniors goalkeeper Agustín Rossi have long been linked with River Plate, but there has been no real progress so far. If Atlético Madrid accelerates its pursuit, River Plate will have to act quickly to find a high-quality replacement for Beltran.
