Although Ernesto Valverde watched Real Madrid's win over Ajax on Wednesday night, he refused to become embroiled in any controversy surrounding the referee, or the use of VAR.
The home side had a goal surprisingly ruled out in the first half, to the disagreement of many, as Madrid went on to win it 2-1 thanks to a late Marco Asensio strike.
However, the Barcelona boss didn't want to add his name to those clamouring to criticise the officiating.
"I don't know if it was a goal and should have been allowed, what do I know?" he said.
"We already know how things are with VAR. There will always be situations that are interpreted one way or another.
"Football amplifies these things a lot due to the controversy."
Valverde also took the opportunity to provide an injury update on both Lionel Messi and Samuel Umtiti, both of whom are at different stages in their fitness.
"[Messi] is doing fine," he added.
"He trained perfectly on Thursday and won't miss much more because he's doing very well," he continued.
"[Umtiti]'s situation is different. He may be with us soon, but I can't say it he will return on Saturday or Tuesday.
"He has been out for a long time, so we still have to evaluate things."

It seems like I have never seen VAR go against Real Madrid. No wonder De Jong is lamenting. I am sure if reverse had been the case the goal would have stood for Madrid.

Of course you'll never see it against Madrid despite all the controversies in Laliga. When VAR goes against Madrid you suddenly go blind but when in favor, Madrid have bought VAR. Hypocrite.
