Varane: Winning the World Cup was the most special moment of my career

At the age of 25, Raphael Varane is a World Cup winner with France and a four-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.

With no previous footballing expertise in his family, the defender is a born winner.

From his first kicks of a football in his garden in Hellemmes-Lille to the 2018 World Cup final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia, 'Varane, the art of winning' details his story of success.

The book, written by Luca Caioli and Cyril Collot, includes Varane's recollections of his childhood, his first steps as a professional football, and working under Zinedine Zidane.

Upon joining Real Madrid, Varane remembers how difficult he found it adapting to life in the spotlight.

"I told myself that I couldn't go to the cinema at eight in the evening anymore," he says. "When I arrived at the airport and saw so many journalists, I knew that Madrid was something else."

Varane played a key part in France's run to the World Cup final last summer, which resulted in Les Bleus lifting the coveted trophy after beating Croatia 4-2 in Moscow.

"Winning the World Cup was the most special moment of my career because it was a dream come true," he says.

"The most difficult moment was losing the Euro 2016 final in my own country."
