Vicente Boluda: Florentino Perez hasn't even paid for a coffee at Real Madrid

Vicente Boluda, who was Real Madrid president for four and a half months in 2009, believes that now is not the time for Los Blancos to go out and spend a lot of money on signings.

Although he acknowledged that the club covers the cost of signings and expenses, he is not expecting Florentino Perez to dip into his own pocket.

"This is not the time for fights and struggles to sign players, because in the end it's Madrid who sign them," Boluda told Radio MARCA when asked about the cost of signing players in the current market.

"Florentino Perez hasn't paid for a single coffee out of his own money; everything is paid for by Madrid.

"It's the same as when I was there; everything is paid for by the club, both signings and any expenses. I don't think it's the right time to force spending when the economic situation is dire."

Sergio Ramos has less than 100 days to go until his contract at Real Madrid comes to an end, and Boluda has argued that his deal should be renewed.

"Ramos is a special case and Madrid must be consistent with people who have given their lives to Madrid," he stated.

"These things should be rewarded and he should be treated with a special affection."

It is more difficult to become Real Madrid president than it was in the past, which Boluda thinks should be changed.

"I would like someone to explain to me why you have to have been a member for so many years to stand for the presidency," Boluda noted.

"At the end of the day, everyone should have an equal chance. The more people standing for election is always better."

So, will Boluda stand when the presidential elections are next held?

"You always dream of being president of Madrid, but I have not yet decided whether I will stand," he revealed.

"The truth is that I don't even think it's the right time to hold elections. The economic situation of the club must be a nightmare."
