Vinicius’ agent in Madrid as new deal draws closer

Renewal talks are gathering pace. Despite a bruising week, the Brazilian knows that Real Madrid as an institution are firmly behind him.

Vinícius needed the backing of his own to rise from the ashes – and the embrace, first from his teammates and then from Álvaro Arbeloa, made that clear. Had he been able to, Florentino Pérez would have gone down to the pitch to join in those gestures of support, the same ones he has repeatedly shown the player in private.

The game against Monaco was different – unlike any other the Brazilian has played as a Madrid player. So much so that even his lead agent, the man who has guided his entire career, was in the stands at the Bernabéu. Frederico Pena wanted to be close to his client at a difficult moment.

The presence of the head of Rock Nations Brasil, a key figure in the growth of the US-based agency’s sports operations in Madrid, was about offering support and standing by a Vinícius who places complete trust in the person who has overseen his career from the very beginning.

Naturally, an agent’s presence brings closer the moment Real Madrid fans are eagerly awaiting – clarity around the extension of a contract that currently runs until June 30, 2027. “I’ve got one more year left on my deal. I trust the president, he trusts me, and there’s no rush,” Vinícius told Movistar after the game.

That moment, despite the forward’s attempts to play down any urgency, could arrive very soon. Both sides want to continue together, and Frederico Pena’s presence in Madrid could speed things up. The Brazilian has endured a tough spell, but with those closest to him he has managed to turn things around. Once again, he has felt the affection and backing of Real Madrid’s leadership, with Florentino Pérez at the forefront.
