Villarreal player Alex Baena has filed a complaint against Fede Valverde following the punch the Uruguayan threw at him after the Real Madrid 2-3 Villarreal game at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Castellon club announced that it would not intervene in the proceedings, leaving the responsibility in the hands of the Spain Under-21 international. The Yellow Submarine player had the option of filing a complaint with the Police, the Competition Committee or both, but finally chose the first route, as 'Onda Cero' advanced.
Valverde: 'disqualification' or financial penalty
Baena's action means that the case is a criminal case, rather than a sporting one. Therefore, Valverde will not receive a sanction, but could be disqualified. Valverde's aggression does not appear in the report of Alberola Rojas, the referee of the match that Real Madrid lost 2-3 against Quique Setién's Villarreal. Therefore, in order for the Competition Committee to have acted, Baena should have gone to that body. The Andalusian player, who had a swelling on his cheekbone, chose to go to a police station in Castellón.
Valverde punched the Spaniard because, according to his entourage, he insulted his second child, who will be born in the summer, after gestational difficulties were reported. Through his social networks, Baena denied that he said to Valverde: "Cry now, your son is not going to be born". Villarreal supported their player: "We will respect the decision that he takes as the affected party, whether he decides to denounce Valverde or not, but the club will not denounce Real Madrid for this matter".
In other words, it was in the footballer's hands to denounce the facts. "Baena is affected by the aggression and by what is said about the alleged motive, which he claims is false. He was unaware (and is unaware) of Valverde's family situation and would never mess with something like that," insist the Castellon team. Following the Villarreal player's complaint, the matter is now being dealt with by the Anti-Violence Commission. Thus, in the sporting sphere, the possible sanction against Valverde would not be linked to the number of matches, but to a period of disqualification or even a monetary sanction.

Well, if you got him banned it’s okay but valverde shouldn’t have stopped with only a punch on his cheek. He should have gave him some more so he wouldn’t try that with no one against what a unprofessionalism Alex Baena

I don't think Fede will punch him for no reason. Just a few days back he's telling Vini not to argue in match. Doesn't make sense but truth shall prevail

When your defenders used to bully Messi on the page you all were cool with it. Even now, Real Madrid players are the best bullied on the pitch more especially when the match is not going in their favour. You all just believe conversations that happened between two people as if to say you all were present. It’s a lot of hypocrisy you Madrid fans are carrying. No justification for Valverde actions
