Whistles followed by cheers for Dembele at Camp Nou

Camp Nou punished and quickly forgave Ousmane Dembele on Thursday evening as the Frenchman was brought on as a second-half substitute for Barcelona against Napoli.

Replacing Adama Traore, he was initially whistled and booed as he warmed up on the touchline and when he came onto the field of play.

However, once he got on the ball and started to create a threat, some fans began to applaud him.

It was the first time that Dembele has played for the club at their home ground since Xavi left him out of his squad while his future was unclear late in the January transfer window.

As things stand, he looks set to depart on a free transfer in the summer, though the anger of fans was clear.

Just another player

Coming on after 63 minutes, Xavi brought on Dembele alongside Sergio Busquets and Gavi as he looked to find his side a winner.

Dembele had featured against Espanyol last weekend, but that came at the RCDE Stadium, away from the pressure of his own fans.

Xavi is clear that he will treat Dembele as he does any other player in his squad, and the winger seemed to be up for the challenge on Thursday night.
