Valencia have released a statement after their players made the decision to return to the field of play against Cadiz on Sunday.

During the first half of the LaLiga Santander game, Valencia's players walked off after Mouctar Diakhaby allegedly received racial abuse from Cadiz's Juan Cala. They then later returned and the club explained why.

"No to racism," Valencia tweeted.

"The team have held a meeting and decided to continue the game, in order to fight for the honour of the club but denounce racism of any kind."

Diakhaby was substituted for Hugo Guillamon and the club then revealed the players acted on Diakhaby's wishes.

"We offer our complete backing to Diakhaby," Valencia said in another tweet.

"The player, who had received a racial insult, requested that his teammates return to the pitch.

"We support you Mouctar. No to racism."

The atmosphere at the Estadio Ramon de Carranza remained tense after the restart, with Diakhaby watching on from the stands.

"Play stopped at El Carranza after the Valencia players left the field of play," Cadiz tweeted at the time the match was halted.
