Xavi Hernandez never actually won the Ballon d'Or, though he did come close a decade ago he now has something of a consolation being the only Spaniard in the recent revealed Dream Team.
In 2009, 2010 and 2011 Xavi finished third in the Ballon d'Or ranking with Lionel Messi emerging victorious on each occasion, but the former Barcelona captain has now been named the best defensive midfielder of all time by France Football.
Xavi adds that accolade to his eight LaLiga Santander titles, four Champions Leagues, two European Championships and the World Cup.
After making his Barcelona debut under Louis van Gaal, Xavi was the anointed successor to Pep Guardiola, who would later become his coach, and like Spanish national team boss Luis Aragones, Xavi was made the heart of the Barcelona side.

He would have won Messi or Ronaldo weren't playing football.
