Xhaka and Upamecano top World Cup ball recovery list; three spain players included

On July 20th, with Spain's victory, the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico officially concluded. Squawka listed the top ten players with the most ball recoveries in this FIFA World Cup.

According to Squawka statistics, Swiss midfielder Xhaka and French defender Upamecano each had 44 ball recoveries in this FIFA World Cup, sharing the top spot. England midfielder Elliot Anderson ranked third with 42 ball recoveries. Spain's Rodri and France's Olise ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

The FIFA World Cup champions, Spain, had three players on this list, the most of any participating team.
