Yamal breaks Spain's 300-minute World Cup goal drought against Saudi Arabia

In the second match of Group H at the FIFA World Cup, Spain faced Saudi Arabia. In the 10th minute, Yamal scored, ending Spain's 300-minute goal drought at the World Cup.

Spain's previous World Cup goal came in the 2022 group stage against Japan, when Morata scored in the 10th minute. However, Spain lost that match 1-2 to Japan.

Spain then faced Morocco in the Round of 16, playing 120 minutes and a penalty shootout without scoring, losing 0-3. In their opening match of this World Cup, Spain drew 0-0 with Cape Verde in an upset result.

This meant Spain had failed to score in three consecutive World Cup matches before Yamal's breakthrough goal ended the drought.

Later, Oyarzabal added two more goals, giving Spain a 3-0 lead.
