Lamine Yamal has been included in Spain's World Cup squad, which does not include any Real Madrid players.
It is the first time in their history of competing at the World Cup that La Roja will not feature any representatives from Madrid, with Dean Huijsen missing out despite making 40 appearances this term. Dani Carvajal is another absentee.
Their Clasico rivals have eight players in Luis de la Fuente's party; Yamal is expected to be fit again for the tournament, having been sidelined by a hamstring injury since April.
Some reports, however, suggest he may miss the first two games at the World Cup as he continues his recovery.
Yamal has 27 goal involvements in LaLiga this season (16 goals, 11 assists), with no player in the competition getting more assists than him.
His Barcelona team-mate Eric Garcia was a surprise inclusion, with Joan Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres the other Blaugrana players included.
Three Premier League champions have also been selected by De la Fuente, with David Raya, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino all set to join up with the squad fresh from lifting the trophy.
Merino is another player with fitness doubts heading to the United States, Canada and Mexico, as is Nico Williams, but De la Fuente is confident he will have a full roster available for their opener against Cape Verde on June 15.
Spain will also face Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group H.
Reigning European Championship winners Spain will look to become the fourth nation to simultaneously hold both the Euros and the World Cup, and the first since they themselves did so between 2008 and 2012.
Spain are the favourites to win the tournament according to the Opta supercomputer, winning 16% of the pre-tournament simulations.
Spain squad: Unai Simon (Athletic Club), David Raya (Arsenal), Joan Garcia (Barcelona), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Club), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Marcos Llorente (Atletico Madrid), Eric Garcia (Barcelona), Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona), Marc Pubill (Atletico Madrid), Rodri (Manchester City), Fabian Ruiz (Paris Saint-Germain), Mikel Merino (Arsenal), Pedri (Barcelona), Gavi (Barcelona), Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal), Alex Baena (Atletico Madrid), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Dani Olmo (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic Club), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Yeremy Pino (Crystal Palace), Borja Iglesias (Celta Vigo), Victor Munoz (Osasuna).

foolish comments, Spain is a country preparing for World Cup. If Madrid had qualified spain players, they could be selected.

some people normally blurted out without thinking Real Madrid is full of foreign players which player did you expect to be included please let's just avoid fortuitous concept.
Dean Hujsien and Alvaro Cerrares are top players

In what way is your hujsen better than lapote? A CB who can't win balls in the air? Give me one match that your hujsen was so good throughout the season.
go get some ball knowledge kid, you are comparing a saudi league retired player with huijsen...

Sometimes I wonder if the cancer that is disturbing president Perez has started disturbing their fans. How can you people be shouting no Madrid players in Spanish when you people know clearly that there's no Spanish players in your first eleven. Answer me, who will huijsen and asensio bench in that defense? In left back position, there's cuculrella and Grilmado so who will careras bench? I suggest you people use this anger to inform the Madrid to buying Spanish players not filling your team with foreign players. please have sense and stop shouting hate in the public space. I'm warning you all stop disturbing our peace in this platform. I come in peace.

Who will huijsen and asensio bench between cubasi and laporta? In the left back position, there's cuculrella and Grilmado so will Carreras bench? or are we talking for talking sake. Again check Madrid first team squad who among the is Spanish? With this advice your Madrid board to buying Spanish nationals instead of foreign players. have some sense.
It was a choice between players. Spain typically plays the midfield game so they didn't want to overload the defense. They had to choose two players for each position (three for CB) so I'm not necessarily against the choices made. All I'm saying is they usually overlook Real Madrid players whenever they're making these decisions. The players I mentioned could all play for this Spain team and do well. I do have sense, you just need to read with understanding.

huijsen can't bench cubasi, while carreras can't bench cuculrella, who asenso want to bench????
Up until the Bayern fixture Carreras was the best LB between the two. His form dipped at the end of the season. Huijsen can definitely bench Cubarsi. He has all the qualities that Cubarsi has, add to that his height advantage. I can understand why he went for Laporte instead(experience) so it's not a big fuss for me.

Mikel Merino didn't even play 90 minutes after coming back from injury yet he's in the squad smh. We can argue that Huijsen/Asensio/Carreras deserves to be in this squad but as far as I remember there was always this bias towards Real Madrid from the Spanish federation...
