The Spanish newspaper Diario Sport published an article stating that Yamal is not satisfied with his current achievements. The 19-year-old Barcelona forward continues to collect accolades and has become one of the leading figures in international football.
After winning the World Cup with Spain, finishing third in the Ballon d’Or voting and winning the Kopa Trophy for the third consecutive time, the young forward remains focused on his primary goal: continuing to improve.
This mindset was already evident in an earlier interview, in which he explained his view of competition and why he preferred to face the strongest opponents rather than remain in an environment where everything came too easily.
“I’d rather play less but with the best players than always play where it’s too easy,” he said. The statement captures his approach to challenges and has taken on new significance in light of his subsequent achievements.
"I'm not in a hurry, but I'm not the type to be satisfied with the status quo. I like challenges," he added during the conversation. For Yamal, progress means constantly pushing himself and seeking environments that can elevate his game. This philosophy has guided him from his days in the youth academy to becoming one of Barcelona's top stars.
Yamal’s passion for football dates back to childhood. He would take his ball to school, tucking it into his backpack before entering the classroom because his teachers wouldn’t let him keep it on his desk. He also remembers playing football at home with his dog, even trying to dribble past it as if it were an opponent.
He was just three years old when he first took part in a training session with CF La Torreta. His coach soon moved him to an older age group, marking the start of his accelerated development. He later joined La Masia, where he learned to combine individual skill with a greater awareness of team play.
Yamal himself admits that, early in his career, he tended to attack opponents constantly. At Barcelona’s youth academy, he learned to control the pace, judge when to accelerate and when to slow down, and understand the importance of teamwork.
Since that interview, Yamal’s trajectory has continued to rise. Winning the 2024 World Cup with Spain added another honour to a career already full of highlights.
Yamal won the World Cup as one of Adidas's most prominent stars, second only to Messi.
At the Ballon d'Or ceremony on October 28, the forward finished third behind Rodri and Vinicius Jr. Although he missed out on the main award, he won the Kopa Trophy for the best young player for an unprecedented third consecutive year.
Despite his continued success and growing list of trophies and honors, Yamal's ambitions remain unchanged. In the interview, he expressed his desire to play for Barcelona for many years and leave his mark on the club's history.
"I want to enjoy this moment and enjoy being part of the best club in the world. I want to make history at Barcelona; that's what I care about most," he stated.
His words now carry special significance. With a World Cup, three consecutive Kopa Trophies, and consistent top-three finishes in the Ballon d'Or, the young forward continues to add to his list of honors.

It’s awesome he’s ambitious. He knows it won’t be a dance on roses. He must dedicate his mind, soul and body.
