As both Gary Medel and Lionel Messi were sent off in the third-place play-off in Copa America, the 2019 Copa America is filled with more dramas. However, the former has now extended support to the latter after the match.
After the match, Messi fearlessly voiced his opinions about the sending off and the tournament as a whole, suggesting foul play. The Argentina captain has now been backed by none other than Gary Medel himself, who feels that both players could’ve been let off with a yellow card.
'I agree with Messi, didn't even think we'd get a yellow for it. We both (Messi and him) are hot but that's enough, with yellow it was all over, it's expressive actions but the referee handled it super badly' said Medel.
'I think Argentina was badly hurt against Brazil, it was unfair, Brazil should have some expulsions but didn't. And they sent us to hotels that were two hours of the stadiums where we play against Columbia and I do not see that it's just that, it's unpresentable.'

Being the best comes with a price, hate. troll. bad luck. critics. expectations. impossible expectations(from haters). A man suffering from his own greatness. Set the bar so high, he can't even be allowed to be in bad form or to have a bad tounament, for some players, winning one trophy is an achivement, but for messi is seen as a failure. when it comes to him, they all forget that football is a team sport, they want him to defend, to be a left and right back, to be a midfielder, to be a striker, all at once. Falcao said it- score one they want more, everything is a point that he has to prove, they can even choose to ignore his age and still demand him to pass 5 players and score, still to prove his greatness, they want him to leave barca, still to prove his own greatness they want him to win a world cup, still to prove hs own greatness, and you know what, its his fault, the enemy to messi's career is his great talent. is coming in full circle now.

This is why players feel the need to dive or exaggerate. If Messi would have just went down and exaggerated after Medel got in his face, only Medel would have been given the red card. But as a result Messi would have been called a cheater and diver. It’s a big problem!

Messi and Medel both chase the ball. Medel bumps into Messi a few times, a yellow card at most as Messi stands his ground. Referee gives both men a straight red card.

Firstly people need to understand that when an institution is supportive of a particular team it doesn't automatically establishes the the specific team is corrupt. The referral decisions have definitely been in favour of Brazil but that doesn't mean Brazil asked for it. It could totally be an agenda in order to benefit parties that are not involved in the game ie betting etc. since Brazil is the strongest team this campaign, therefore a little help otherwise could be passed off as luck or coincidence. The red card stood even after a VAR check. Now that's another level of incompetence unless it premeditated.
