Former Inter defender Javier Zanetti believes Leo Messi's Ballon d'Or prize was fully merited.
Many felt that Virgil van Dijk was more deserving of the award after winning the Champions League with Liverpool last season.
However, the legendary Argentine full-back is in no doubt that his compatriot is the top footballer on the planet.
"For me, Messi is the best player in the world," Zanetti said.
"If he was awarded the Ballon d'Or it is because he deserved it," he stated.
