Zidane's role in saving French team Rodez

After their victory against Boulogne-sur-Mer, Rodez Aveyron Foot achieved promotion to the second tier of French football.

It was a great success for a club that was headed for inexistence back in 2012, had it not been for the crucial intervention of Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

Zizou contributed to a capital increase of 113,000 euros along with local business leaders and former professional players such as Olivier Dacourt and Sylvain Ndiaye, according to L'Equipe.

As a result, Zidane became a minority shareholder to keep the club afloat and now, seven years later, the team is headed for Ligue 2.

Despite his contribution, Zidane did not want publicity for his generosity.

"It made it possible to validate the project and shed a little light on it, it was the most important thing, it brought us a lot of local credibility," says Gregory Ursule, the general manager of the club on Zidane's efforts.
