Zola: Inter are Champions League favorites, only PSG, Barcelona, and Manchester City are stronger

Italian legend Zola said in an interview that he believes Internazionale are among the favorites to win this season's Champions League.

First, about Internazionale, Gianfranco: Can they feel safe against Club Brugge?

"If Internazionale play normally, there will be no problem. There's a big gap between the two sides. Although the Belgians have some strong young players, and their youth academy and development have been excellent over the years—with one or two emerging every season—Inter is still in a different category."

The strong teams also got some rest.

"That's a factor. I agree with Chivu—there's no such thing as a 'second tier.' For example, Sucic—how can you consider him a substitute? The club has done an excellent job, and they are capable of competing for everything."

Including the Champions League?

"Internazionale are among the favorites to win."

Who is ahead of Inter?

"I would say Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Manchester City. After those three, they can compete with any opponent."

Who is indispensable for going all the way?

"Lautaro and the Italian players as a whole: Barella, Bastoni, Dimarco, and Esposito."

Who does Esposito resemble the most?

"I would say Luca Toni. Their movements are very similar, and they are both difficult to dispossess. Esposito has also been compared to Vieri, who was faster in transitions. I think this youngster will be the future of the Italian national team."

Maybe he could partner with Retegui?

"Mateo is a promising striker. In this position, it's our responsibility to observe everyone, especially talented players like him. I'd love to see how he performs in a high-level match like at San Siro. He has ability, is good at free kicks, scores goals, and has a strong personality. As for which national team to represent, that's solely his decision."

Among Italian teams, who is most likely to go the furthest?

"Internazionale. But I hope all Italian teams go far. We need that."
