Ajax, after beating Heerenveen in the Dutch cup, trained on Friday morning at De Toekomst. The session began at 11am, with an eye on this weekend's Eredivisie action. On Sunday, they have a big game in Rotterdam against Feyenoord.
Those that started on Thursday did a little less work than the rest. Among them was Frenkie de Jong, who since Wednesday has been a Barcelona player. He will officially make the move in the summer.
De Jong was one of the first to leave Ajax's training ground after the session, while various teammates attended different media. De Jong wound down his window to greet SPORT, a few weeks after our last visit. We invite him to get out of his car and to make a gesture for his new supporters.

And De Jong responded, opening the door and getting out of the car, with a sincere smile, to greet from afar the Barça supporters. "See you soon," he said. After a short chat, he got back into his car and set off.
Surprisingly, he returned a few minutes later and rushed into the building at De Toekomst. He had forgotten a bag and had to head back to the dressing room. After collecting the bag, he dared the car pack on foot, covering himself from the snow, before another friendly wave. He then got back in his car and disappeared.
De Jong, who once again showed his respect towards this newspaper, revealed his excitement to join Barça. It will happen in a few months, although he knows his focus must be on Ajax until then.
RESPONSIBILITY WITH AJAX
There are some big challenge for De Jong at Ajax in the coming months. And not just Sunday's derby against Feyenoord, his first big test after signing for Barça.
Feyenoord are third in the table, 11 points back from Ajax, who are second, two off PSV. It's Feyenoord's final chance to try and pull themselves back into the title race. There's also Champions League qualification at stake.
Ajax, meanwhile, in the long-term are fighting for the title themselves. They also remain in the Champions League, with a big game against Real Madrid around the corner.

Now because he has signed for Barca everything he does will be keenly noted..
That's it for you. just like Dembele. They will tell you what time he went to toilet and what he did in there and how many minutes he spent.

I just can’t wait until he actually goes somewhere, it’s turning out to be the longest non-saga of all time.

They don't play the same position, but does that decrease Barca's interest in Eriksen? Levy would demand a higher fee than they just paid for De Jong, too

No Rabiot to Barca, then? It makes so much sense that we get him now...

It must be because Barca operate based on income they have secured through contracts and stadium revenues. Whereas PSG’s revenue stream is based on money from a single entity who can decide to pull out whenever they feel like it.

Even as this is not a rule, watch barca cut their wages by the time De Jong joins. Cya Denis, Rafinha, Samper, Boateng, maybe even Rakitic/Vidal.

I'm not a huge fan of how Barca operates, but damn, I have a hard time feeling any sympathy for PSG and money issues.
