Girona announce Sacristan has been relieved of his duties as head coach

Girona have announced that Eusebio Sacristan has been relieved of his duties as head coach, following the Catalan side's relegation to LaLiga 1|2|3.

The 55-year-old had a further year left on his contract, but he has agreed to waive this in order for Girona to go in search of a new head coach as they seek an immediate return to the Spanish top flight.

"Eusebio Sacristan will not lead the first team of Girona FC next season," Girona's statement confirmed.

"The coach has made his position available to the club and has waived the [remaining] year of his contract that he had signed."
