The France goalkeeper's current deal expires at the end of the season and talks over an extension have dragged on for over 12 months.
Ahead of their clash with Genoa tomorrow night, Allegri was asked for an update: "The club is working towards the team's future, and AC Milan has some excellent players: we're working towards a strong future. Our goal remains to finish in the top four."
Meanwhile, Allegri says he'll be happy if on-loan West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug is the one signing made this month.
He said, "Luckily, I have a club that works well for Milan: (Igli) Tare and (Giorgio) Furlani are focused on the good of Milan, so I'm calm and relaxed.
"Fullkrug is improving in his condition and already in Cagliari he showed he has characteristics that we didn't have in the squad."
Meanwhile, Allegri also paid a glowing tribute to Luka Modric, who has played more minutes than anyother senior player at Milan this season.
"It's not a technical surprise, but rather his passion, love, and humility that deserve to be highlighted. It makes me smile that, when he misplaces a pass, he gets very angry with himself and immediately apologises.
"In Cagliari, he could have passed to (Ruben) Loftus-Cheek in front of goal, but he made a mistake and immediately apologized, angry with himself.
"This is an excellent example for young people, because it demonstrates the love and passion that kids today should have for their sport. That's what makes the difference. Today, there are too many distractions: it's important to have focused players."
