AC Milan have earmarked Chelsea prospect Armando Broja as a potential transfer target according to reports.

The Armenian striker spent last season out on loan at Southampton where he scored six times in 21 starts as Ralph Hasenhuttl's side successfully avoided relegation.

Broja looked set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with West Ham among a number of notable suitors, but then-Blues boss Thomas Tuchel ultimately opted to pull the plug on any potential departure.

After making his debut for the club in February 2020, Broja has enjoyed his first taste of more consistent game time at Chelsea this season, having been deployed as a rotational option by Tuchel throughout the early part of the current campaign.

However, according to a report from CalcioMercato, AC Milan are confident that they could secure a deal for the 21-year-old, despite Broja having six years remaining on his current deal at the club.

Milan are said to be in the market for a long-term solution to their aging forward line, and despite a £26million price tag, head coach Stefano Pioli believes Broja would fit the bill.

Just days away from his 36th birthday, Olivier Giroud has rolled back the years for the Rossoneri in Serie A and has already scored four times in seven league appearances this season.

Meanwhile the soon-to-be 41-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic has likewise enjoyed age-defying success in the Italian top flight but with just one year left on his deal at the San Siro it's no surprise that the club are looking to bring in another forward.

Former Liverpool star Divock Origi joined the club on a free transfer over the summer but is yet to make his first league start for the Italian champions.
